Focus

Nikolas Klausmann advises electricity suppliers, metering point operators, electricity and flexibility marketers, as well as other service providers - such as those in the real estate sector - on all matters of energy law, renewable energy law, grid regulation, metering and calibration law, and general civil and administrative law. He regularly reviews complex regulatory issues, particularly those arising from the Energy Industry Act (EnWG), the Renewable Energy Act (EEG), the Metering Points Act (MsbG), and relevant EU law, as well as questions of (energy) tax law. Another focus is on providing legal support for innovative business models in the areas of metering point operations, end -customer electricity supply, and flexibility trading.

Studies

Law studies at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul). First State Examination in Law. Doctoral candidate at Humboldt University of Berlin. Legal clerkship at the Berlin Court of Appeal with placements at, among others, the Federal Chancellery (Department of Energy Policy) and a leading commercial law firm specializing in energy law. Second state examination in Berlin.

Professional Experience

Several years of experience as an attorney at a leading international commercial law firm specializing in energy law in Berlin. Research assistant, consultant, and lecturer at the Foundation for Environmental and Energy Law, the Institute for Energy and Antitrust Law at Humboldt University of Berlin, and the Florence School of Regulation (European University Institute, Florence).
